FAQ

  • The landowner will receive a 12.5% minimum royalty per month. The actual amount is dependent on how much gas flows from your well the previous month and at what price we were able to sell it for.
  • Years ago oil & gas rights were separated from mineral rights (coal, clay, limestone, etc.) Most people in the area do not own their coal, but most people DO own their oil & gas rights. MDS Energy will research and verify the ownership of the oil & gas after a lease has been signed.
  • There is no set amount of time and no guarantee of a well. There are a large number of variables that dictate when and where we can drill. We have to research title, obtain waivers and a permit from the DEP, etc. Sometimes this can take quite a while, but we do not lease in areas that we are not intent on drilling in.
  • NO! We require only a small pad and a minimal road in order to conduct our operations. Any timber we must take down is harvested and does not go to waste. Natural gas is clean burning, cheap, and convenient to extract and consume domestically, reducing our dependence on foreign sources.
  • Our main office hours are Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm. Appointments for evenings and weekends can easily be arranged for in our offices or at your home or business.
  • In order to drill within 200 feet of a home or business, the company has to obtain written consent from the owner in the form of a waiver and signing what is called a "page 2", which is a part of the permit application. It is typical for the gas company to offer compensation for this, with the amount depending on the impact the well has on the property.
  • A pipeline right-of-way grants the gas company the ability to lay small diameter transmission pipelines across your property to move gas from a well to a larger public utility line. MDS Energy does not contract out any of its pipelining work, which means your property will be meticulously restored to it's previous condition, if not better. In fields we dig our lines below plow depth so as not to hinder any farming activities.
